What is this organization about?

We are an organization inspired by a common determination to promote unity and cooperation, shoulder the responsibility of development and cultural identity in response to aspirations of the various sectors of the people of Kenya in the state of Arizona and beyond. We firmly and solemnly resolve to unite member of the organization in promoting social, cultural, economic and professional development and to expand and enhance relationships and activities beneficial to all members and non-members. Who can join the association?

Membership shall be granted to, but not limited to, persons of Kenyan heritage by birth, adoption, marriage or naturalization, who preside principally in the state of Arizona. Membership may also include such people in other locations in the United States of America, East Africa and Kenya. All members must be of good character and agree to abide by the principles, bylaws, policies, resolutions and decisions of the Arizona Kenya Association. Honorary membership shall be granted to any persons of good character and good standing who support the aims and objectives of the Arizona Kenyans Association, and meet such financial obligations imposed by the association.

How much will it cost me to join?

Membership shall be acquired by submitting a payment of an annual fee of seventy five dollars ($75) per family and fifty dollars ($50) per individual. Students 18 years and older can acquire their membership by paying twenty five dollars ($25). These are annual fees. Additional costs can be incurred on choosing to participate in other programs within the organization. Such programs would include the Bereavement Fund, among others. Financial obligations are subject to change at anytime.

What are some of the association's achievements?

Some of the AKA achievements are as follows:
  • The AKA has been registered with the state of Arizona.
  • The AKA has successfully introduced the AKA bylaws.
  • The AKA has a website that is up and running and has sent its link to other Kenyan organizations.
  • The AKA has help meetings that have helped propell the association to a better level.
  • The AKA has registered over 60 members.
  • The AKA has initiated an impemented the Bereavement Plan which is one of its major programs.
  • The AKA has had parties that have brought members and non-members together to facilitate in the networking of the community.

How long has the association been around?

The association was originally formed in early 2004 as a way fo trying help the Kenyans in Arizona with their financial and social obligations. Months down the road, we have grown to be an association with over 60 registered members and still growing.

How can I submit my contributions?

Financial submissions can be submitted in the following ways:
  1. Make out a check to Arizona Kenya Association and deliver to a committee member.
  2. Make out a check to the Arizona Kenya Association and mail it to P.O. Box 1495 Gilbert, AZ 85299.
  3. Deposit your cash or check directly into the Arizona Kenya Association Compass Bank checking account number 2504160893. Please inform the Treasurer Mutua Mattu or the Assistant Treasurer Chege Mwangi if you use this approach via email at info@kenyansaz.org
